  • 1 cup warm water (110F)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted melted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 3.5 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400F and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  • Warm the water, melted butter, milk, and honey until they reach 110F.
  • Sprinkle the yeast over the warm liquid in a stand mixer bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add 3.5 cups of flour and salt, then mix with a dough hook on low until combined.
  • Gradually add remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Knead on medium speed for 5 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
  • Cover with a cloth and let the dough rest/rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 15 equal pieces, shape into balls, and place in the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Bread flour can be substituted if you prefer a chewier texture. Maple syrup is a suitable alternative to honey. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise in the short proofing window.
