  • 2 cups mashed potatoes Can use leftover mashed potatoes.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to substitute with other cheese types.
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • for frying Oil Use enough oil to fry the puffs.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until well combined and the mixture holds together.
  • Shape the mixture into small puffs or balls.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the puffs in batches until golden and crispy on the outside, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Serve warm, with dipping sauces if desired.

Notes

To keep leftovers crispy, reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. Variations include adding herbs or cooked bacon bits.
